Hey, I‘m Tenesha and welcome to the ten foot journey. I’m glad you’re taking the time to know a little more about this space. You might be wondering, “What the heck is the ten foot journey?” Well that’s a very good questions. One that I’ve been asking myself since 2015 when I first launched this blog.
Coming from a confusing travel/ food/ lifestyle blog to what it is today. It had no direction yet flowed in so many different ones. So much has changed in my own life since deleting the old blog originally. I don’t think I could explain what the ten foot journey meant until I understood my own journey first. To explain what this blog is, I’d need to tell you a bit about my story.
I’m a born and raised Jamaican woman who, just like so many, was searching for her passion. The funny thing is, it’s when I stopped searching was when I found what I needed.
By April 2019 while working a call center, I enrolled to become a certified wellness coach through the Spencer’s institute based in California. I completed the online course and started coaching a friend for the experience. However, it hasn’t been easy for me. While I’m a wellness coach, I also suffer from anxiety. It’s a disorder that I live with even when I wished I didn’t.
After my last panic attack which was the first in years, my eyes were opened. I hadn’t been taking care of my mental or physical health. I needed to get back on track. Through the support of my wonderful boyfriend and best friend, I was able to rise out of it. Then it struck me… so many people face personal and mental issues without the kind of support that I had. That was the day I knew what my impact as a wellness coach will be.
But I still had my doubts about how capable I was. My best friend sent me a book that changed my life. The book was called “the go giver”. It was the wake up call I needed to understand the value in what I do and the impact I wanted to create.
I became a wellness coach because I wanted to help people. Reason? I just genuinely cared to. However, along the way I lost that reason. That ‘why’. Today, I’ve been given that reason and I want to share it with all of you. The ten foot journey (as the played on name suggests) is not just my journey, but all of ours. “Ten” represents a number not set in stone. “Foot”, a unit of measuring and finding direction. And finally journey, representing life and all that comes with it. Together, it is our lives, struggles, drive towards wellness and personal successes. This isn’t about me but about us all, no matter where in the world you are living.
I invite you to join me on the journey. Be a part of a community, one where there’s no judgment, no shame and where you’ll find support.
I’d be happy to have you on this path. Together on this adventure as we navigate the journey called life.
